Default ATF in Fuel

Ive seen several folks running as much as a 70/30 mix of diesel fuel and atf. I know most of em are doing it in a 12v. would it hurt my 24v? other than the obvious fuel saving, what is the benefit, and is there a downside? I love my truck and dont want to run something through that could hurt my poor lil stock injectors!!

are you talking new or used ATF? Used needs to be filtered really well to get metal particles and other contaminants out of it. It will act as a detergent, clean all the gunk out of your tanks and lines and plug up your fuel filters the first few times you use it. Other than that it should run fine, We get ours from 2 AAMCO shops. filter the hell out of it with big *** fuel filters and water separator from a semi truck. (filters from NAPA) Takes about a week to clean 80 gallons.

tranny fluid is a strong solvent. I used it with great success to clean the inside of an engine.
It will clean the inside of an injection pump and injectors too.
Not sure if it is good

I know a guy that's running it in his 24v. Thins it with diesel, filters it through 3 fuel filters, runs it through his truck. Smokey as all heck, but i guess when you have to run over 60 miles round trip from home to work everyday you do what you gotta do to save where you can. I was looking into used ATF and WMO in my truck but just don't have the time or money to mess with it right now. The number one thing about running ATF, WMO, WVO, or anything else for that matter is to FILTER IT!!! The best way it to get a centrifuge but using multiple filters with different micron levels and a water separator will work just fine too. Its best to thin whatever you're using(ATF, WMO, WVO, etc) with diesel before filtering so it flows better and faster. Have also read about using heat to make it flow better. Good luck to all who try it and be sure to tell us how it goes.

this letter "W" scares me. Even if you filter waste you bring chemical contaminats into the system.
Filtered waste is still waste.
And recognizing that a 60 mile round trip is expensive to your wallet makes me start to save in a more effective way than using waste fuels.

What would you do if fuel prices would double?
This is a serious question- I have to deal with it every day!

ATF is BAD. This is an old school trucker's trick. But the problem is that the ATF they sell now is not the ATF they used to sell. Todays ATF has all kinds of additives for new transmissions. These additives contain friction modifiers and such which would be hard on the very tight tolerances of todays injector pumps. Dont run this stuff. Use a fuel additive - Powerservice, Stanadyne etc. or TCW-3 2 cycle oil. 2 cycle oil is designed to burn clean and not leave any deposits. ATF is not designed for that.

I use atf in gasser's and in diesels. I put 1 qt. to every 4-6 tanks of fuel to clean out my injectors and system. Works great and no losse of in performance. It doesn't hurt anything cause Atf is a high detergent.
Not sure about runnin 70/30 Atf/diesel.
I'll have to check with my dad

^What he said. 2 cycle oil is designed to lubricate and burn. The flash point of ATV is much higher than 2 cycle.

Just my opinion, yours may vary.
