I used to work at a specialty chemical company that made Bio Diesel out of chicken fat. It was pretty aggressive stuff. It would eat up the concrete all around the plant. The seals in the hoses and pipes used for tank transfers didn't last long and would develop leaks...where those leaks occured the concrete and foundations of the tank supports were eaten up.

The seals held up to all the other chemicals and processes we had in the plant but not the Bio.

certainly wouldn't mind getting a bio diesel kit, buy a large aftermarket tank and you could last on your own stuff for some time

Default biodiesel for fuel

I have run my 2005 6.0 Ford on and off for 4 yrs on biodiesel, and Have found that it does clean out the slug from the tanks. Changing the filters cures this. Making your own is not hard but have to watch the little things or it will end up all soap. the titration of 7 or lower on the oil is easier to make the biodiesel with. I now have a processor and can make it for about 1.30 a gal. I have put about 5,000.00 in the home brew station. The only thing that you should watch for is that the biodiesel starts jelling at 40 deg and lower and you need to have a heated tank and run a two tank system, start on diesel to operating temp and switch to bio.

I heard not to run biodiesel in a 6.5 TD because the seals can't handle the solvent properties, anyone here had anytrouble with that in the same truck?? mine has a mechanical IP

i ran b100 for a while, made my own reactor and all. not an "apple seed" type using a water heater. i made 40 gal batches at a time. I did not see the benefit of buying pump diesel and blending with my bio when the whole point is to save money. So since there were no antigels out for b 100 i did not use it through the winter months. I had a guy from az make a heck of an offer on my processor so i sold it and have not got into it again.

I've been running WVO,but now intend to turn it into B100.I still can use my wvo conversion to run Bio in colder temps. So far with wvo,its been short filter life, injectors coking, and just plain more maint.
