HELP! truck wont stay running with filled 50% diesel/ 50% veggie
I'm having issues in my newly purchased 94 2500, That I bought filled 50/50 with diesel/veggie, im going to guess its either the lift pump or the fuel heater/pre filter. in the pre filter there is a mesh screen, that i have an idea is clogged.
It cranks and cranks until I put my foot on the throttle and it starts up I have to hold it around 1500 rpms or else it will stall.
I am thinking about replacing the fuel filter, fuel heater pre filter, lift pump ( I already have a brand new one from my last truck that I thought needed it) and drain the fuel tank of the mixed fuel and fill with straight diesel.
Anyone have any tips or any better ideas? Thanks

the warmer you keep it in the tank the better it will run. thats why i dont like veggy oil. i like bio diesel. guys around here that runs veggy oil makes a fuel tank heated with truck eng water running thru it. they start on reg diesel and when eng temp is up they switch and run pure veggy oil. but dont forget to switch it back before you shut the truck down.

filter oil to 5 microns.
i have a heat exchanger that i heat fuel with works real good but i quit running veggie oil
due to what washes by the rings ends up in crankcase and then it will turn your oil to jello that wont pump plugs up everything cost me a motor. so i went back to making bio-diesel for the past 5 yrs.
i run 100% bio and heat it when it gets cold. plus i built a metal block that has glow plugs
in it so it will heat fuel till the engine has enough heat to do it.
just my thoughts on veggie oil sounds good but do some reasearch on it. bio works much better does not plug filters and oil passages

I have 50,000 miles with veggie. You must have at least 80 degree fuel going into filters, then step up to 160 degrees before injection.Any mix over 25% veggie.I have temp guage mounted on injection lines,And backup fattywagon heaters.I have stock tank for diesel and 12 gals boat tank for veggie.Veggie, and metal tanks are trouble, cause chicken skin.I also invested in a FM100 5 micron filter water separator. You can't be too cautous.Cold veggie will coke rings, and cause premature death of a good engine.
