Default The Root of the Matter: Carbon Sequestration in Forests and Peatlands

Policy Exchange, a British think tank, published a report titled “The Root of the Matter: Carbon Sequestration in Forests and Peatlands” calling on the British government to end biofuel subsidies and instead use the funds to protect forests and peatlands, which can effectively regulate greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere by absorbing carbon. Changing approach, say the authors, would significantly reduce the cost of tackling climate change and deliver a variety of other benefits. See also British press reports: BBC | Scotsman.
