Default Low Sulfur Diesel?

I heard that the low sulfur diesel is extremely bad for your diesel engine. One of my buddies said that a quart of ATF helps when he's running low sulfur in his 94 Dodge 12 valve. Crazy? i dont kno, what do u guys think?

crazy old timer, u can use 2 stroke oil or one of the major diesel fuel additives.

and the LSD is harsh on the old trucks.

no LSD is good on older trucks ULSD is bad...kills seals in some of the pumps.
LSD is bad for new trucks...

Your buddy is right in the fact that ULSD has had most of the lubricating properties stripped out of it....but needs to do a little research before he adds ATF to his tank. This was an old mechanic/truckers trick from way back in the day. But, the formulation of ATF has changed and it now contains friction modifiers that will quickly wear the very close tolerances of the modern day an injector pump. Plus, ATF is not designed to be burned.

Using a good fuel additive such as Howes Lubricator, Stanadyne, or Power Service is much better for an engine than ATF. A lot of people (including me) also use TCW-3 2 stroke oil for added lubrication, as the 2 stroke leaves very little ash/crap after its burned.

He already does put ATF in it, ill let him kno asap. He also uses Klots 2 stroke dirtbike oil since we're all motocrossers and snowmobilers. adds a nice touch of race smell to the exhaust actually.
