What this boils down to is marketing. Plain and simple. Here in BC most of the rapid transit is either light rail based, diesel or a Ballard Power diesel LPG or Hydrogen based system. So this isn't really the issue.

The problem is the large amounts of sigle coupant V8 gas cars and trucks on the roads. This is the police crown victoria's, any ambulance (get this BC Ambulance has switched from the Ford E450 PSD to a Chevy based V12 E85 platform There isn't a single E85 gas station in the province), the soccer mom, the grocery getter SUV, all those blasted minivans and a bunch of other useless piles of tin on the road. Convert the COPS to a high torque, no smoke diesel (say that nifty new 4.4L PSD) and get the first responders out of their gassers and into some Sprinters (like they use in EU) and you've cut down on a boat load of crap right there.

Sure that's only BC but get California to do that and boy watch the politicians head spin!

I don't think so but you can use LPG with Dino Diesel without any issues.

The local gas company has just about all their vehicles running on LNG (including many of their service trucks). Power is

In my new Diesel Power mag they were listing the contestants for this year's DP Challenge. One dude has a CNG system on his truck. I'm assuming it's a supplement and not primary. I can't remember the name of the place they said the kit was from though.

It was from Marc Deluca fuel products. I got just under 39 mpg at the challenge. In testing i got little over 55 mpg. Thats not counting the cng usage.

How do you equate it using the CNG and Diesel? 39 mpg sounds real good and all, but if it costs of the CNG are significant it brings down the effective mpg's. (Or the real cost per mile.)

But, if it keeps American money in America (or Canada), I'm all for it.

CNG local (ohio) cost 1.70 a gallon(GGE). It would use a 1 to 1 ratio so you could have some pretty good savings. In Utah (out west) it's only $.68 for a gallon. Big savings out there. It adds about 80 to 100 hp also. Jeff

This is interesting, I'd like to learn more. Got any site recommendations for anyone that has Cummins CTD's.

Is CNG better than propane?

I just looked at my Gas bill, I used 9ccf for $19.10 last month.

Just look up Mark Deluca Fuel Products on the web. There is some good reading in there. CNG has a lot higher octane than propane.
