Default Invert base oil

Just curious if anyone who works in the drilling industry has tried this? Not sure what kind of additives it has in it, but it was originally #2 diesel. I've been told the stuff we use now has a mineral oil base.

Mainly just asking out of curiosity, something I've thought about while looking at the 10000 gallon tanks of it.

Is this part of the drilling mud? What does it look like?

It's the base of oil based drilling mud. It's clear. After chemicals are mixed into it to turn it into mud it becomes brown.
