Default AirDog 100 question and observation.

I'm in the process of installing my new AD-100 and things are going OK so far, though it would probably be a little more fun if I didn't have the 400 lbs of frozen slush melting off the truck and into my eye! (I think is was closer to 800 lbs before taking it to the car wash)

After reading the directions (which are top-notch by the way) and looking everything over on the truck, the first thing I noticed was a major clearance issue between the 90 degree elbow that was going to feed the CP3 and the accessory belt driven vacuum pump that operates my Jake Brake. The pump sits directly above the CP3 with only about 3/4" clearance between it the the stock banjo bolt. There was just no way for the two to co-exist, so I had to remove the Jake pump... for now.

After I get the AD installed and the truck back on the road, I'll look into either re-engineering th vacuum pump bracket to both raise the pump and move it closer to the center of the engine (1 1/2 inches in either direction should work), make a new mounting bracket and re-locate the pump to a slightly different location or admit defeat and purchase an electric vacuum pump to run the Jake.

One question though. When all is said and done, which pressure spring should I install in the AD? It has a 15psi spring already installed but they also sent along a 17 psi spring. What kind of pressures would make my CP3 the happiest? I've read that CP3 equipped trucks run like *** when the supply fuel pressure gets too high, but how high is too high?

Got the AirDog completely installed yesterday. So far I'm pretty impressed... especially with how quiet the pump is. I ran several different electric pumps on my old '67 pro-street Camaro and they were all loud. Guess that was what I was expecting with this. Engine seems to run smoother and quieter. Especially at idle. Don't know how the fuel pressure reacts to driving conditions as I don't have a guage (yet), but anything has to be better than the sick stocker. Overall, I'd give it an A-. (Chinese fittings guys? Come on!)

Cool. Looks like that would work. I'm still gonna try to fab up a bracket to relocate the pump first. Just because I think I can do it. If I fail miserably at that, then your set-up will be a great "plan B". Thanks bub.
