Case IH 7120 & 7140
Not sure the years (think they are early-mid 90s) of these tractors on the farm I am currently living on, but was looking under the hood of the 7140 tonight and studying the engine... Well its a 6TA 830 Cummins (was also lookin at just the injection pump on the 20 but couldnt get the hood open, will open it sometime soon). The injection pump is a P pump on both of the tractors, but was wondering if it is a P7100 or another model P pump? Also, if different, besides the obvious internals likely being different, are these pumps (without me taking measurements with a tape) physically different in size?
Main thing I was wondering was if they would be able to be un-bolted from the tractor and mounted on a 5.9... Also was wondering if the gear on the front of the pump is the same or not.
All this in mind just trying to figure things out and educate myself, I have no intention of swapping one of those pumps for mine, as the tractors do not belong to me.

i know some of those p-pumps had ag-governors on them, another thing, some of those pumps put out ALOT more fuel than a stock truck one, i know some of the VE cummins pumps on the machinery put out horrible amounts of fuel.
I know somone who's got an ag ve pumped 5.9 in thier truck, and it does not have some of the stuff a regular ve pump found in a cummins dodge has...
Now I guess we wait until somone can tell us if the pumps are different size wise.... heh

I think that the ag engines use an A pump. they are similiar. is it an inline pump. but there are so many variations anything is possible. I am no expert. I work in a fuel system shop with guys who know those things.
You really wouldn't want those pumps if they were your tractors, the 7140's somewhere around 225 hp and the 7120's around 180hp. So not much to gain from a swap. You'd want something off the 8000 series Magnums. That being said the AG P7100's use a different style gov. since they run full throttle mosta the time. As far as the nuts and bolts of the swap couldn't help ya there as I haven't looked that closely at em. Will have to take a peek at the neighbors 7120 next time it's close by.
I ran an 8930 for a summer back in high school, very nice tractors. But I'd just come from running a 3388 2+2, so anything would have been an improvement.
