The superduties have a "dead head" fuel system....so air in the system gets pushed through the injectors. A RR allows the fuel to return and for the air to be purged from the lines.

thank you, i don't mean to be ignorant but do you need the regulator or can you just do a plain return line?

you NEED the regulator, it is what sets the fuel pressure.
