Completed Install!!! I was able to use my complete Intake system from my TYMAR, except need to use a 22* bent 4" pipe. fought with that for an hour trying to figure it out.

Also, got it running, and it ran like dog sh*t. I was stumped. should have known right away, but didnt unfortunately. Anyway, tried a few different things, thought it was a massive exhaust leak, but didnt think it could be because we made sure everything was tight, took our time with the install. Anyway, was about to give up for the night, and Dale at TYMAR was going to give me a ride home when Jacob called me back. I had text him the symptoms, and he said, "What did you do?" I replied with, All i did was swap turbos!!" He said, is there a Valve cover harness disconnected?" I said, " I dont think so, but will check" "Holy sh*t, drivers side VC Harness was completely out!" Its amazing how easy those things can get knocked loose. Truck runs great. Built about 34psi immediately on an easy run getting onto the highway. So was driving home and truck was cruising at 0 PSI of boost, and was really weird. Once i got home, check the boost line and it melted in half. Must have broke the zip tie holding it during the install and didnt realize it, and it rested on the turbo and melted. easy fix for tomorrow.

Overall my impressions with this turbo are very good, i definitely love it, less whistle and seems to have much more top end. Will drive it some more tomorrow.

Anyway, Jacob, i cant thank you enough, this was a fun day.

And another huge Thanks to Greg for coming out and giving me a hand, it was good to have you there for some of the bigger part of the job, and thanks for lunch also!

Fuel system will be coming, i am waiting on an AIrdog 2, and oil is in my future, just dont know when. Being a homeowner, the funds arent quite there for everything

I do have a few things left over from the swap that are for sale. Anyone looking for a Super Duty 4" Downpipe? the KCM SS Crossover from Strictly is for sale. and a couple other odds and ends.

Looks great! I love the Mid frame turbos.

Your Hot side IC tube looks so much better then mine, I still have not had the time to clean mine up.

How was the install?

Crappy design on the Harness, could have been done so much nicer.

I am pretty sure I will do an airdog at some point in the future, I am sick of the mess with the two superduty fuel pumps and crap.

Looks great, keep us posted on the performance. Nice install pics as well.

It sure is helpful to have another hand in putting things together!

Hey Ken,

Pick up some of these and loose the worm clamps, go with T clamps.

THe install wasnt too bad, just a little time consuming. It took me about 11 hrs, but mostly because i wanted to take my time and make sure everything was installed correctly and tight. Trying to get my intake squared away took me almost an hour and when it was all said and done, i only needed a 22* pipe to replace one small section. Tightening the compressor housing while mounted was kind of a bugger, but got it done.

Actually the alternator was replaced a couple years ago IIRC.

All in all, im with Joe on these turbos, anyone running hybrids needs to throw one of these on, the 38R just isnt enough turbo.

When i have to take this apart again for the fuel system, i will do the inserts. Yea, i will also replace the worm gear clamps, they do suck

There not as big a deal when you have a stock type turbo, the turbo helps hold down the Y pipe, but before I swapped to T bolts I blew the Y off 3 times!!!

Scares the crap out of ya when you have blown a motor or two...
