Question Need advice on getting more MPG

I just got a 2000 F250 SD 7.3 Powerstroke 2x4, Auto Gear Ratio 3.73, Long Box Extended Cab, with around 130000 miles, everything stock.

Hand calculated I got around 15 mpg when I drove it home (30 Mile Drive). Changed the fuel filter and cut the exhaust (3.5 in) off at the muffler and it bumped me up to 16 mpg. I make sure that I drive like an old lady and the truck sits just under 2,000 rpm at 70 mph. The oil has been changed a couple hundred miles ago and the truck runs great and is in great condition.

Not really looking for more horsepower but it's always a bonus. I would like to get 4in exaust, a cold air intake and programmer as cheaply as possible on a $600 budget.

Here is what I'm looking at:

Cold Air Intake - I would eventually replace the filter on this one with a

Exhaust

Chip

Let me know what you think.

Post up in the sponser section for a price quote... You should be able to get a turbo back exhaust system for about $300 shipped, intake for about $230 or so and a TS type chip for about $400...

A package deal might save you a bit of money.

Your mileage seems about right, my wifes Excursion gets about 15-17 around town.

I would like to wish you luck on your quest for better mileage. However, nothing listed will vastly improve it...unless you can save a few pounds with a lighter wallet.

Exhaust and Intake will certainly help. Like said above, Check with the site sponsors...

For a chip, I would go with a TS style chip because it will give you so much more options...

You are at about what you're going to be getting for mileage... Keep in mind, its a heavy truck. Make sure your tires are properly inflated.
