I think I'd have a headache after awhile with a straight pipe.

I thought that the 7.3 was louder than the 12v that I had been testing this weekend. What is the actual shape of the cat/muffler. Is the traditional elliptical cylinder or a round one with a taper a both ends. Also why does it sound a bit "motorboating" wha-wha-wha instead of a vroom-chatter inside the cab when you lay on it but the reflected sound from a concrete barrier or a semi container is not.

Man they are loud. It seems that you need to close the windows just to hear you yell at your passengers.

I see a lot of people are saying what I am too and ik there is a lot of controversy on the idea and you have to check your state reg on emission of vehicles but on my f350 I did dual stacks with 6 in outlet from a 5 in pipe from turbo back and I cut out my mufflers and did straight pipes and then i did a rersonator delete and did some Gibson headers and i definitely have the louded exhaust around to the point my neighbors complain to me every time i see them after i start my truck early to let it warm up before work. i do also have other mods like SCT livewire ts tuner in the truck which i have custom tunes and it did make it a bit louder. (more fuel quicker added, higher rev, ect...)

Mine is loud and you can here the turbo well. Foil delete, billet wheel, turbo master and a very short 4" ss exhaust. It sounds more like a 18 wheeler now.

Simple.. straight pipe.. hold it to the floor wherever you go and **** everyone off with ease...straight pipe sounds good but sometimes I wish I had a muffler back on it...can't have your cake and eat it too

A few weeks ago I got pulled over by the popo and given a ticket for loud exhaust. 2001 7.3 straight pipe, running 80 hp in Gearhead tunes. Houston, Tx.

1.0 A/R exhaust housing, 4" dp to 5" straight all the way back and 6" tip. My truck get mistaken for a amtrak train when it high idles and the turbos spoolin. Bombin around town and she whistles pretty darn loud with the windows down and turns some heads. If you want really loud get a Gtp38R turbo. People will think their by Detroit metro airport haha
