How you gonna haul stuff/pull with a lowered work truck?

Maybe I should put a lift-kit on my Volkswagen

I think you are a little extreme on lifting a VW. if its 2wd you can lower it and still haul stuff. I did a 2 /4 drop on mine did a set of air bags on the rear and it rides like a caddy. also droping you truck is no different than lifting your truck if you are towing. Me , i would rather lift heavy stuff waist high that have to lift it chest to put in the bed of my truck. also you get better mileage out of a 2wd lowered than a 4wd lifted( i get almost 21 in almost a bone stock 7.3)

on to helping the guy that asked about the drop, there is a 2 1/2 bracket below your springs on the I beam. I took it out and built one out of 5/16 plate steal and a 1 in piece of sec. 40 pipe to drop the front it gave me almost 2 inches, also there is a company that makes a 2 inch drop spindle, for the rear i took out the factory blocks and put in a set of shackles. i will try and draw something up if you want. you will need the resources IE. a welder correct size hole saw or a plaz or tourch, the hole saw workes best i think. the rear you can take out the block and take out the bottom leaf and drop about 1.5 - 2 inches just with that, there are many ways to do it if you have some time and limited funds.

cheers

Ya and what happens when you hit the farm up with your "lowered" work truck? The guys in the John Deere 9400's are gonna be laughing their dicks off at you for lowering a work truck.

As far as mileage, when you are on the job-site, reliability, maneuverability, and the ability accomplish nasty work is what you need. Worrying if the little puddle of water is too deep for you should be the last of your worries.

Just because you use YOUR truck for work dosent mean he uses HIS truck for work. maybe he pulls a camper to rv parks for vacation with his family or tows a tow hauler to the dunes, or maybe is wife and kids have a hard time climbing in the truck. Don't judge people because of what they want to do, just because you dont agree with it dosent make it a bad ideal, it just makes it different. that would be like me saying why would you want a VW TDI when you could have a truck for the same price. its because that is what you want. hes not asking you to drive it or ride in it, hell you may never even meet the guy. I have a f-250 with a drop and i take it on job sites all the time. but i tow on the road more that taking it off road, I just like the way it rides and looks. just like you like your truck the way it is. Im not trying to be an A-hole but i just think people souldn't tell other people changing the look of there truck is wrong. Prime example is Low rider cars, I dont think putting a $5000 paint job and $5000 of hydros in a car is practical but the work they do is good and it was done nice, its just not my cup of tea. But i dont go around laughing at them telling them its wrong to do it to a car.
