Default Stage 1 Intake Variation....

Just thought I'd post up a pic of my filter install this weekend. I was having a hard time justifying the money for a Tymar or one of Airflo's kits when I knew I could do it on my own. I picked up a Duralite filter and went to work. I pulled out the stock air box and Airaid Stage1 heat shield, didn't have to cut the factory battery tray or anything, just pulled the box out. I had already eliminated my factory CCV so I put a straight piece of 4" exhaust tubing there. I was getting ready to cut another piece of exhaust when I realized it wouldn't quite line up right. Took a look at the 4" bends I had then remembered the Airaid Stage 1 had an adapter piece built into the heat shield. I cut the 4 welds holding it into the heat shield and used it to adapt the factory tube to the 6637 filter. Worked like a charm. The hose clamps will be replaced this week.

Just thought I'd post this up for those that already have a Stage 1 and have been thinking about a Tymar setup. Just reuse the adapter piece from the Stage 1 and buy yourself a filter!

Not sure what size the BHAF is. I've just heard of it today. The filter I used is 8.5" dia. x 11" long. It's pretty freakin big!

Thanks for the info.... currently I have the AFE (their original) and I have sucked the filter out of shape.... I need more air!

Original install

The filter (cleaned and oil many times) is now deformed..... are these filters too small? Not enough surface area? I don't run with the pre-filter anymore because it would stall the turbo....
