Default 6 position ts performance chip on stock 7.3

Ok, so I recently purchased a ts 6 position chip for my 7.3, this is the first mod I have done to my truck as I heard the chip in the daily driver setting would greatly improve my mpg, but a friend if mine did a little research said something about when installing this chip, you have to have a new exhaust put on the truck, now don't get me wrong that is on my list of things to do to my truck as well as installing a new intake as I have heard how terrible the stock is, and what I was curious on is what issues should I be aware of? I usually keep the chip on 65hp daily driver. Thanks in advance, (sorry, I'm new to the modding scene and want to learn)

You can keep the stock exhaust for now. But with the chip on your truck for now as the only mod, that will cause your egt's to up some. I would recomend an egt gauge in the near future so if you increase the fueling more you can keep an eye on the temps.

Really depends on who the chip come from as to how hot its gonna run. The canned tunes are usually pretty warm on the high settings. Just don't hold it down for long without the gauges.
