New mechanical fuel pump not workin
Not yet waitin in hospital for second son to arrive,
so I thought I would do some research while waiting. Someone said there was a rod to transfer from old pump to new one, but they looked the same to me.

look into switching to a super-duty type set-up. I have an electric standard pressure pump on the frame, the stock fuel filter (and return)set-up, and finally through a super-duty (higher pressure) pump. There are variations on this including completely removing the stock fuel bowl.
When you do get back to the motor, you need to verify that it has that lobe. Might even stick something in the hole and turn the motor over to see if it goes up and down.
By the way... Welcome to DB!! Don't forget to fill in your signature with your trucks information.
