Default Truck dies after idling for extended periods then putting into Drive

So what seems to be happning, in more instance than one, is that if I'm idling outside (15-20*f lately) for several minutes.. half hour to 45mins... and then I put the truck into drive, it instantly shuts down. I put the truck in neutral, restart it, put into drive, seems like nothing ever happened. Wtf?

So if you don't idle it that long, is it fine?

Before you put it in drive, give the throttle a little blip... See if that helps. I have seen that happen before and it was a sticky IPR and the truck just freaks...

Just a little blip, not WOT or anything.

Will-do!

Also, perhaps irrelevant, but once I was offroading and I hit deeper mushy ground.. while I was very lightly on the throttle I put the manual t-case into 4hi... as soon as I popped it in, the truck instantly died. I figured it was normal that maybe the truck shut down so it didn't tear apart the t-case or something?
