Default Aftermarket Turbo Housing

I red in a book I bought about modding diesel trucks that the only good performance turbo Mod you can do is upgrade the turbo housing on 94.5-97 7.3L Ford's... Has anyone done this? is it worth the $150 one I found?

Are you talking about going with a smaller exhaust housing like a 1.0 or .84. If so you can do it with stock injectors, it will help with quicker spool, but once you go with bigger injectors you will want to go back to the 1.15

there are other mods you can do. there is a bolt in replacement turbo for these trucks, but i don't like it much. there are also turbo kits such as the h2e kit that comes with new up pipes, IC pipes, collector, intake pipe, etc to install it

There is nothing wrong with the drop in options for these trucks, I am very happy with my D66, its a little easier to afford than a modded H2E

from what i can see a d66 is good for running stage 1's or mild tuning on stage 2's, however, b/c the d66 is built from a stock unit i feel that it cannot handle the fuel that stage 2's can produce. i'm glad that yours is working out for you though!! how much boost do you see from it btw?

if I'm not mistaken beans will warranty it for stage 1s and 2s. so they must think its capable of stage 2s no problem

yes they will and I have talked to them a couple times and have my tuning from them and I can guarantee that these stage 2s are not tuned down for this D66

Yeah like I said above they are definitely not pulling anything away from these 2s. On my hot performance tune from them they are confident I will make at least 420hp. and the truck definitely fuels hard. As of right now Im only seeing 35 psi max. But Im pretty sure Im running out of fuel on the top end since I still have the stock fuel system, but I have a beans electric system going on in the next couple weeks so Ill see then if it makes a difference. Luckily I got studs in already when I pulled the engine so at least Ill be safe on that end

whose and what size stg 2's are those? my buddy ran his 160cc diy stg 2's with an h2e. it pulled 412hp @ 2100rpm before it blew the intake y off the top of the engine. LoL. i wish we coulda gotten a good read from it, but we just couldn't keep that y on there for some reason. don't matter now though b/c it has a cracked block now.. he pulled the stock h2e around 45psi or so on that truck w/ stg 2's so i think your capable of more than 35... but who knows maybe the d66 just wont show the boost #'s quite as much but if you feel that your getting the most from your injectors and turbo then your good i suppose.

They are 160cc with 100% over nozzles from Rosewood Diesel. The D66 is only good til 40 so I hope I dont end up makin more than that. It does flow more than a stock H2E though.
