Turning Up A 6.9 And 7.3 Mechanical Motor

I dont think it matters. I went down to the cummins shop and bought 8 gallons of the premixed Fleetguard antifreeze that has the SCA's already in it. I will have to check it and add more SCA's from time to time though. You can also just go to a ford dealership and get just the additive from them. I was replacing my radiator and water pump at the time so I needed all 8 gallons.

You should ask in the powerstroke forum. IDI and PSD share only 2 things, the oil filter and the fuel they burn.

ok i saw a post above where they said they were getttin 20 mpg on a quarter turn and 16 at 3/4 of a turn to the pump? the best i can figure im only getting 12 mpg turned two flats or stock. whats the norm mpg for these trucks? i cant figure why mine is so low its a 4x4 7.3 turbo with 204,000 miles auto tranny not sure of the gears but at 65 runs about 1800 rpm with 33in tires.

I would think you had 3:55 gears with those rpms. An auto with 3:55's will do better on the freeway as it has a taller OD gear than the 5spd. My truck is spinning about 2k at 60mph with 4:10's on 33" tires. I get 14-18 in town depending on how heavy my foot is, usually 14 or less if I'm on the freeway alot.

my old 93 idi n/a 5 speed manual with 264K riding on LT305/70/16 was getting around 23 mpg...fuel screw turned in a quarter of a turn got me down to about 20, 3/4 of a turn got me 16 with the air cleaner cut open to expose the filter and the bowl cut off of the lid and a straight pipe. my automatic powerstroke with 193K with a 5 inch lift and a 4 inch straight pipe riding on 33/12.5/16.5 gets between 14 and 16 mpg depending on how i drive it and the terrain.
