Running warmer
Can any of y'all give me an idea where my rig should be running temp wise? I noticed the temp crawling up in between the A&L in 'normal but she would go right on down to the M when I took off again.I replaced the cap and she is staying in the mid range all the time, but I'm wondering if the fan clutch or thermostat is my next route? It has only been in the low 70's and my drive is mostly through town at about 35mph most of the time except for a huge bridge incline.I was thinking of taking off the a/c condensor since the compressor is already gone but the only mods are a straight pipe exhaust that exits in front of the rear wheel.I'd appreciate any pointers.
its hard to say with out a temp gauge on your truck, but for starters it would not hurt to spray out you radiator with air or water to get all the junk out my need thermostats too and a good flush never hurts
i'd get a gauge bud my truck runs at 190 at idle and like 200 when im going down the road but mine mainly is back and forth between 190 and 210 when i run down the road so mine goes back and forth like when i get on it and when i get off of it back down to 200 but thats mine im not sure how everyones runs temp wise
what t-stat did u get? only run motorcraft or IH thermostats. the others do not bypass properly.
also do not trust the factory gauges. my temp gauge moves with the rpm, figure i got a wire to close to alt wires and it is interfering with it. the stock gauges suck.
plus, normal is a wide range of temp.

Thanks for the info man! I got a stant t-stat but I haven't put it in because I had to replace a few bad brakelines. Ill definitely run a motorcraft if I can get it. Where would I connect a aftermarket guage (wiring) at? I'm still too new to these motors to do much good.
do u still want the factory gauge to work? if it is ok that it doesnt just remove the sensor from the engine and install the probe there.

also when u remove the thermostat housing, there will be a little hole with a ball in it in the housing. make sure the ball is still in there and that is moves around when u shake the housing. this is the bypass. if ball is stuck, no flow.
