Check the injection pump timing, sounds like it is not advanced far enough

i have a 92 f250 7.3 idi i had to replace a foot section of fuel line with rubber fuel line. the fuel filter went half dry i pulled it off 3/4 times and had to fill the filter up from half and the truck will run for a second then drain the filter half way and shut off. i keep topping the filter off with atf but it wont stay full how do i fix this. is it possible that air is still in the line

push the shrewder valve ontop of the filter housing while cranking, if air comes out you should be good to go.

How many miles are on the IP? Your symptoms sound like those of a dying injection pump. When it gets warm, things expand increasing the gaps inside and will usually allow it to continue running , but not allow a restart until it has cooled off. Some people have gotten extra use from them by pouring cool water on the IP after it is warm to get it to restart.
