Guys,

To play devil's advocate:

You can safely run a VGT without a WG, so long as you run something like EFI Live tuning. IIRC Ryan at Suncoast and Dave Matthews have both run non-WG VGT trucks safely over 700 HP (one still on stock head bolts). Maybe suffering from CRS; if I can find those post I'll put them up here. Anyway, saying that...

I'm quite certian your piece is way less than $900 + for the tuning. Before spending the cash for the tuning I would definetly be interested in your creation; maybe we can work something out and have you send one my way for Beta testing????

yes sir you are correct. as stated previously, you can run a VGT without any issues without a WG, BUT the pressures that the VGT create are much higher than the max recommended pressure for the head bolts... i will put it out there again.... in no way am i saying this is required for everyone.. i will eventually be going with a compound setup so this is required for me... i just start where i am financially able to... and in this instance... wastegate was the affordable project for the month.

as for cost of my piece... yes... i can say total excluding my time and welding consumables. im looking at around 400 in materials including the wastegate. not too bad really. i would have no problem building a few of the crossover tubes for people interested in wastegating their vehicles, but the wastegate, dump, etc etc will all have to be equipped by the end user. if someone wanted me to piece them together a package deal with the regulator, all necessary tubing, the crossover tube, and wastegate... i dont forsee it being a way to save tons as im not big enough into mass production to turn a buck....

you say they dont need a w/g. but then you want him to hook you up with one. if you dont think a w/g is needed why do you want one.

Coors,

Did you actually read my post or just react to key words? Again, with proper tuning you can do without a WG; however, the tuning is $1,100. Until I can afford EFI, I would run one of his setups. Never said I wasn't interested in it, just stating a fact.

haha. now now kiddos. coors and i are working on hopefully being able to somewhat produce a crossover tube for 2 piece manifolds as well. as we have more word, we will post. as far as building them for the stock manifold... i will possibly do 3 or 4 for the right cost and when i have free time, but ill put it out there now that they are in no way on the top of my priority list.

Looks great. I am going to do something similar myself and hope that you can tell me what size flange is used on the exhaust manifold. Is that a standard 44mm two bolt flange?

flanges are what come with your EGR delete kit, or can be made out of a piece of 1/4" steel plate and the gasket under the EGR. just trace the gasket and toss it into a mill... bam! you will have your flanges. the flanges are two different sizes so make sure that the back stays at the back and front stays at front.

I keep thinking I need to run a WG on my 24v. I think since I found this thread I will hook up a drive pressure gauge to see where im at. Since I used a 6.7 manifold on my swap fabbing up the mount shouldnt be that bad. Just need to see if VGT 24v has the high drive pressures of the 6.7.
