Default New Desiel

I just bought bought a 2012 2500 deisel and want to put a chip in to increase my mpg. I know nothing about the chips except from what I heard from salesmen. I have been told that I will need to remove my exhaust filter.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction. Better mpg and a little more torque would be great.

They don't have chips anymore. They use programers to change things around. Mpg seams to be directly related to HP in these engine at the early stages. By that I mean from stock to about 500 HP. The emissions are the biggest MPG killers and if you take them out you warrenty will go away so you need to decide what is more important to you. Options on programers vary as to who you talk to. Mini max is popular and so is the smarty jr. My recomendation is to hang out and read the posts for a while so you know something about what you want before you jump in and buy. You can easily spend a couple of grand on one of these trucks but it can really change it for the better. I don't mean to say you have to spend that much but if you check what most of these guys have into these trucks in can get a little adictive, kind of like tattoos, one is never enough.

like peters said decide on your goals with the truck. it does get additcive for sure. they have alot of different tuning. i run smarty on my truck. nothing against smarty i love the tuner but im fixing to change too efi live cause you have so many more options and adjustments. on your other question the deletes are the way to go if your state dont do emission checks. (egr/cooler delete dpf/cat delete)
