Default Taking out the muffler

My brother has an 08 6.7 and part of his exhaust rotted out and he wondered if it would hurt anything to just leave out the muffler, all other components will stay DPF and CAT.

wont hurt it or even sound diferent get rid of the emissions your killin the truck

the muffler doesnt do anything that i can see but take up space.
