Default question for guys with grid heater deletes

Had a question for you guys with a grid heater delete in the deep south mainly my truck stays mainely in the state of texas (eastern mostly) did any of you guys have trouble starting without the block heater in the 0-20 degree mornings we had last winter. I was thinking about doing this along with an aftermarket intake horn for my truck ,but wanted to know if I would have to plug it in during winter. Also how bad was the install. Thanks for any info in advance.
