went through re torqed the head to 130 ft lbs i think it might have sealed it off no probs yet so next week ill prolly go back and do it again and call it good:tu:

I am having the same problems from my truck. i am going to put a flexalite electric fan on it in hopes that the fan clutch is the issue. :argh:

You probably don't want a flex-a-lite kit on your truck if you tow heavy.. An electric fan cannot flow the kind of CFM like your stock fan.
If you tow over 10k, I would highly recommend staying with the stock fan. I am in the process of having a larger radiator made for my truck.. Should be a drop-in ordeal. I will keep you updated. |
i rarely tow, and when i do its just an antique pulling tractor thats no more than 10k, i installed the electric fan but am still having trouble with the coolant overflow. however when the fan turns on it causes the truck to flutter at an idle. after talking to flexalite, they seem to think that the magnets in the fan motors are interupting the cranshaft position sensor. they have had a few calls recently with the same issue and have no way to prevent it from happening now. my mechanic is pulling the head off monday and going to stud and fire ring it. that should solve the overflow issue.:argh:

seems the smartys are doing it quite a bit but others have blown gaskets too, I have been watching mine close because my temps were bouncing back and forth one day too, I have been gaining in my overflow and yesterday, it was bubbling alittle bit. It has raised from the line to about 4" above the line in the last couple weeks

ive been fighting this battle for a awhile now guys...ive tried fire rings and studs and i think i may have popped another gasket.....my drive pressures are in check and my boost is right around 55psi on a long hard pull
