You cannot speed shift the NV5600 nor the NV4500HD for that matter.. If you do, youre going to bugger it up for sure. These trannys are made for towing not racing, and require slow deliberate shifts if you want it to last any length of time.

Im sure thats not what you wnat to hear.

i wanted to do either the 5 or 6 speed conversion when my auto went bad, BUT after a bunch of research for racing an Auto is better, for a dedicated tow truck IMHO a manual is better.

you can speed shift em. You'll need to file every other tooth on most of the gears tho.

You can slap shift any Manual transmission. But....... Ease of doing it does depend on the tolerances of the sync rings in the transmission. I have no problems with slap shifting my 09. Going up. And had no problems with my 03.. But I spend a lot of time in A Western Star so that is kind of in the second nature department for me. If you are good enough to time it then it is fine. But in the two listed my 09 is crappy to do it going down gears. You have to be on the money. For the most part I would not even come close to recommending it in A race situation. Slower to slap'em then to clutch it anyway. Got to remember the race anything credo. Hours in the shop for minutes or seconds of run time.

Rhino.

So how did you destroy your G56? I drive pretty crazy sometimes... Am I probably close to breaking mine?

Think the odds of me shattering a gear are less since i drag race on a dirt track?
