Default questions about turning up a 6.7

I'm in college and my roommate has a 6.7 and he was wondering if there is a good cheap way to turn up his pickup without chips or egr deletes. I read last night about how you could make a smoke switch which i'll prob do for him when he gets off of work today. I have an older 12 valve which is turned up alot of the way and i was wondering if there was some other way to manipulate the fuel or air on his pickup to increase power because he's pretty unsatisfied with his right now. His pickup is also stock right now. Can you put a straight pipe on it without hurting anything? I'd really appreciate ya'lls help because to tell you the truth i don't know anything bout the 6.7's thank ya'll.

You can delete the muffler but without a chip you cant touch the DPF.

6.7master, i see in your sig that you have a smarty and an xrt, just wondering why you have both since you can run them both? Also how does that turbo act on your truck?

If you can weld and aint scared of diy you can make a 6.7 scream for less than a grand. Make your own dpf delete..a 4 ft 4" pipe will delete it. Cut the flanges off your dpf and weld to straight pipe. If you wanna ditch the cat get a 4" 45* bend cut and weld. Can get all that from summit for less than $100. Find a Smarty for 700 and you will be melting tires and cluthes before you know it. Alot of used smartys and edges..just buy used carefully.

R&RDiesel,

To answer your question, I have both the Smarty, and the XRT because I wanted to know for myself wich one ran better, and i wasnt sure how either one of them would work when i first did the turbo swap, so i figured why not own one of each that way if one of them comes out with a "new and improved tune" I will be ready for it Also the turbo is freaking awsome the best thing ive done to the truck period!
