Default TS Power Play MP-8...opinions?

Admitted newbie here and recent Cummins convert. I have a bone stock '09 4x4 (built Jan-2009) and as much as I love my 6.7, I wouldn't mind more horsepower.

From what I've read the Smarty and XRT seem to be great tuners, but I am concerned with potentially flushing the warranty on a brand new rig.

I see that TS Performance has the MP-8 plug & play and they indicate the unit is "Undectable" and "Does not leave fingerprint in the factory computer". This combined with being in-cab adjustable up to 100 hp increase has me interested.

I've also read where some of my heroes on this site have stacked the MP-8 with other tuners (Smarty and XRT), which could give me a more aggressive option once my warranty expires and I grow a pair huevos.

Any opinions or experiences with running a MP-8 (stand alone) on a 6.7 would be appreciated. Much thanks for the info.

Don't see many replies. What did you end up doing? Did you pick up an MP8?

Not yet, but I'm still leaning towards the MP8. Do you have an opinion on the TS plug & play?

Don't add anything that raises rail pressure (Edge, TST). Smarty and the new Black Maxx look like promising programmers. One thing though, the Black Maxx is over a grand, but it has a read out, so you can monitor, boost, and all the other essentials. Smarty, need to add gauges.

Hard to say. If you unplug your egr (which will throw a P0405 code, easy to clear though by plugging it back in and doing 4-5 key START cycles with a week of normal driving) I would try the MP8 as long as you didn't turn it up over 50%. Do you have a manual or an auto? Even just 50% could make that clutch slip if you got a G56. If the EGR was blocked or unplugged and you kept your RPMs above 2K always you shouldn't have a problem. JMO though, if you feel comfortable with that go ahead. Oh, the MP8 won't be detected on your ECM but to run properly you should shim the fuel release valve which could be detected by a mechanic if you ever had to bring it in for work. Hope any of this rambling helps your decision either way.
