Default When to Mod?

Knowing that modding a truck will most likely lead to voiding your warranty, how long should one wait before touching a new 6.7L? Should you leave it stock for 10K, 20K, or 30K before touching it to make sure that you don't have a total Lemon?

I can wait for awhile, but I'm really worried about the damage that the EGR creates!

I'm in the same boat. I want to modify but still am waiting to make sure I'm not going to need any major warranty work in the future.

I have almost 30k on mine. My decesion to mod mine is based solely around the egr and dpf. I am sick of taking my truck to the dealership so they can put my truck in a regen status and drive it for 1/4 tank of fuel. I think this is totally unacceptable.

I guess to answer your question. My only problems with my 6.7 are related to the DPF and EFR crap. If I would have eliminated them from mile 1, I would have had to take my truck to the stealership zero times.

Hope this helps.

We usually try to wait until the truck is off the dealership's lot before commencing any BOMBing runs!

For me it was a long 45 mile drive home. Drove straight in the shop and hooked up the TST

It all depends on your financial strength!

For average RAM owner, I recommend after warranty is over, then go to town!!

Mild modification, like air intake filter, it is better to start right away, because it only helps.
For example, As soon as Banks Power came up with their Ram Air System filter package, I got it. It sure makes a difference.

Big Mike, what damage are you talking about? What is it doing to my truck... you would hope something from cummins direct wouldnt harm there own product.
I have 27,000 miles on mine and have been told to wait on the mods.

My personal opinion is LEAVE IT ALONE....if you want you warranty...Plain and simple. After all the work if done with and for the dodge place I can assure you , regardless of who you know, what you know or what you take off your truck...IT WILL VOID THE WARRANTY!!!!!! Dealerships have very little control over warranty issues , all warranty work in this area now has to be approved by Star center. IF YOU MOD YOUR TRUCK DO NOT TAKE IT TO DODGE!!!!! I've seen trucks voided for intakes, AFE Drop in filters have voided them, Althought there an OEM replacement they flow more....giving them all the rights to say they dont meet OEM spec.

Just please be very careful. I've even had guys come in saying that the guys at the dealership are good friends .....They wouldnt say anything, 2 weeks later they come back voided! I'll get on dealer connect and see If i cant find the statement regarding 6.7L's and the warranty!
