Default 68RFE upgrades?

I'm plannin on makin this a sled truck, and i know that the trans. is only rated for 10% over stock. Instead of buying a suncoast or a goerend, i was thinking just a goerend torque converter, billet input and output shafts, planets, clutch bands, valve body, and a deeper pan.

dunno if im gonna set myself up for trouble like this...

i was thinkin gear vendor over under could help too but i dont know much about them.

anyone upgraded/scratched their stock one and if so what did ya or what are ya planning to do?

There are NO companies right now with billet shafts for the 68rfe tranny. I spent almost an hour on the phone with Suncoast. they said they are coming out with shafts that are currently being made overseas and won't be released for up to 3 months. I have a customer right now that owns a machine shop and is looking into building billet shafts. The Suncoast tranny is only rated for 500-550 hp and no more.

When I talked to the guys at PDI thought they said they where running Billet Shafts in the Suncoast tranny. That truck of theirs is making over 700 HP last time I heard.

Don't know but Suncoasts main dude and I spent an hour on the phone talking about this tranny and he said they don't make em yet. I also spent time on the phone with OPIE and he said he isn't making anything for this tranny either. PDI might be getting lucky right now or doing some testing for Suncoast with proto type billet shafts.

It's been out long enough you think they would have Billet Shafts by now. I wonder if ATS is doing anything with them. I'm sure ATI would make a set for a descent Price.

If you have a way to get the splines taken care of, I have LOTS of 4340 at the shop. We also work with quite a bit of 300M for military aircraft applications, but 300M can be cost prohibitive. If someone were to manage to get me a set of stock shafts... I can program and cut the blanks ready to roll and broach.
I read a magazine article a few months ago talking about the new trannys, and the guy from Goerend said they were working on a converter for the 68. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to get one.
