Default Turbo ???

Aight i'm not trying to sound stupid, im still learning bout my new 6.7. on the old 5.9s there used to be a silencer ring in the turbo that you could remove which would allow you to hear the turbo wind up a little better. im curious if there is one on my 6.7 or not. also what the hell is this thing i find in the hose from the air box to the turbo. it looks like an X with foam insulation around it. is this something to reduce noise, is it necessary. what will happen if i remove it?

Well ive been doing some reading around on different sites and apparently you have to drill the silencer ring out of the 6.7s unlike the 5.9s which wuz just a snao ring to remove. AND according to some folks, removing the ring may cause some power loss. Somebody explain that one to me. OH and that crazy X in the damn intake tube is apparently just a baffle. that has to restrict airflow somewhat. do people really buy a diesel tuck and enjoy hearing nothing from it? why do they try to restrict these trucks so much? i would think all these baffles, and CATS, and dpf would kill fuel mileage. and at $4 a gallon diesel, its INSANE!

X2 there is a silencer ring there, but is alot harder to get out then on the 5.9L. And I have heard horror stories about loosing a few ponies after removing it. It is also ALMOST impossible to get back in there unlike the 5.9Ls. I don't know exactly how, but it is really hard to get back on and you have be be careful removing it.

you can thank the EPA and tree huggers for that . Oh, lets cut emissions but also cut fuel economy at the same time, use a DPF that INJECTS FUEL to super heat and burn off soot. Use an EGR system to Plug the intake tracks and carbon the valves. can we keep going? LOL... I can't wait to get started on my customers 07, 6.7. we are going to the dpf and egr and look into making some other goodies for the thing. should be fun.

I put a S&B airbox on. That got rid of the baffle & made it easier to listen to.

I installed an Air Raid System on my 08 and now the turbo sings so nicely! Dunno about deleting the DPF as of yet. Still got the ol' warranty. I am looking at deleting the muffler. Nice of Dodge to "bolt" it in instead of welding it!

What's up Mr. CBrahs? Finally made it on here!
