Default First Diesel 6.7

I have just purchased 2009 6.7 2500 auto. I have no clue what I need to do for mods. I have been told to get rid of the emissions. I would like more horses (hell who wouldn't). But also I do drive a lot on the highway. I was thinking about EFI live as I have read a lot of good reviews on it. If I don't go EFI I will go Edge probably. I know you veterans in here have seen this post a lot and I am sorry about this. I would really appreciate any help anybody could give as I have owned gas my whole life. Thanks ahead of time.

Do not go Edge on the 6.7. EFI Live is very new to the 6.7 with very few tuners who know what they are doing with it. If you're looking to purchase now, go with H&S or Smarty.

I personally like the H&S. The 6.7 really responds well to a CAI and DPF delete exhaust. If you live where you can't remove that stuff, you will be amazed at how much of a difference the H&S makes even on a stock truck.

Good luck,
Ch

I have also heard that you shouldn't put a programmer on without doing the deletes because of soot build up in the turbo and exhaust system!?!

True, I ran my 08 on H&S minimaxx tuner with all the factory emissions stuff for several months without issue, but will be doing deletes on the new truck

Never a better time to learn how to be mechanically inclined. The exhaust and tuner install is very basic and really straight forward. IDK about the EGR stuff, but lots of guys have had no problems doing both deletes without specialized tools. Search this forum and Google some of the Ram forums too. Lots of good DYI tips on both.

That's a great product for the 6.7. I have the minimaxx tuner which is essentially the same but with a smaller screen. There's some good YouTube videos about installing the h&S tuners . Super easy to install. Make sure you buy the 35 dollar fuel rail plug/shim (find @ xdp) . It will help keep the fuel flowing adequately through the rail on WOT.

As far as dpf delete exhaust, H&S recommends 5" from turbo back with or without muffler. If you live where the weather is bad, you'll want a stainless system rather than aluminized. I have a flo-pro, but they're mostly the same.. Find one you like.

You might also start chatting up and making connections with diesel enthusiasts in your area and the vendors on the forums. You'd be amazed how much people are willing to help you learn. A six pack goes a long way when the tools come out!

Lastly, search like crazy on the forums for tips (take these with a grain of salt) and buy the industry mags at your news stand. Lots of good info to be had there.

Good luck.

H&S Mini Maxx, 5" Flo Pro and H&S EGR/Cooler delete and you will be great.
