S&B cold air intake
#11
I want to put an exhaust on the truck, but with that stinking propane tank looking filter hanging under there is it going to make a difference in the sound that's noticeable? Has anyone put an exhaust on one these things with the DPF in place? Furthermore if you buy a kit that works with the DPF in place, can you buy a piece of pipe to go in it's place later if you want to eliminate it? Or will need another exhaust? Emissions laws are such a pain in the . Obama is worried about my diesel truck exhaust, and GM(government motors) just decided to increase production in China where they spew 400 times more into the air in a month then the US does in 10 years.

The only differance will be in your head unfortunately for sound.
My wifes 2010 i did straight pipe and left factory muffler it sounds good and deep.Plus Race Me programmer. Did deletes Cali Style. She has gained about 4- mpg in town. Was 12 now 16 -18 at times in town. Alot more responsive too. Hardly any smoke at all!

Your 10 doesn't have the urea system though, does it? That was what I'm referring to. Since the filtration system has changed, becoming more restrictive..it makes sense that the sound is rather muffled regardless of the exhaust.

Also, I'm wondering what they have done differently with the engine. I see a lot of people posting that they get 12-16mpg in their truck. I just rolled 1700 miles and I average 16-17mpg in the city, and have averaged 20+ on the highway. I drove a 600 mile trip one way and averaged 21.3mpg. That's not trusting the display, that's actual figures. I'm happy with the mileage, I just want some more throttle response/more Diesel engine sound, from a truck that allegedly has 370hp. I haven't had it on a dyno, but I don't think it makes anywhere near that. My 03 5.9 HO put 280 to the real wheels and around 650ft/lbs of torque. This new truck is 400lbs heavier...with all that said the 03 would eat this truck alive in a straight line. No doubt I'm my mind.
