Stock tailpipe is getting a little beat( rusty) and I'd like to build a side exit exhaust from the emissions junk back, just need to know what size pipe to buy to do it.... Anyone happen to know what the diameter is? Clamp and flare size, if available would be helpful too. I was going to buy muffler delete emissions back setup, but I think I can build what I want for less then 50 bucks...... Makes spending a couple hunderd seem wasteful. I will put up pictures when it's done for those that want to see it

I need to get a definite answer on this... I want to dump the exhaust from the end of the emmissions back, literally right out the side in front of the passenger rear tire.

Just need to know what diameter pipe to get, and I'll have it made in a day...

 

After 11 days, and not getting a definite answer, why not get a tape measure out and take care of it yourself?

(My delete pipe I used was a piece of 4" I picked up from the local shop...I had them flare the ends...)

 

What a great idea how did I not thing about that?!? Maybe becuase I've been travelling for work and wasn't home to look

I already ordered what I needed, after getting the information from somewhere else and when I get home I will make what the aftermarket hasn't been able to do, a simple 90 degree and dump it in front of the rear wheel. A total investment of about 38 dollars in materials, including the high temp paint.

I'd put a picture up on here... but I won't bother wasting my time I think everyone on here is probably not really interested.

Just look at how often I post on here I'd think that would be enough of a clue that I'm not on here much, for one reason or another.

I bought a 3.5 inch 90 degree bend and a piece of 3.5 inch pipe, now that I can measure it, that's a touch smaller, but if all it's getting is a 90 degree and a dump in front of the rear wheel I doubt it will be a restriction. One end of the 90 degree has a flar on it to slide over another piece of 3.5, I'm going to try to see if it's close to the end of the DPF, if it is I'm going to just butt weld right to the DPF, I won't bother trying to expand it again to get over the end of the dpf I already know that will be a nightmare, and probably won't happen.

Anyone know what kind of metal the DPF housing is made of? It has surface rust on it so I know it's not stainless, I shouldn't have any issues welding alum. coated steel to it should I?

If so, then I may be in trouble.. only other thing I think I can do is use the end of the muffler, but I had to cut the clamp since it was so rusted the bolt didn't even have any shape to it after the metal had flaked about 3 layers off... and on top of it the clamp was spot welded to the muffler apparently, since even after cutting I had to pry it off the muffler, and it never did come completely off.

Alot of work to make a simple 90 degree bend with a slight kick in it to get it out the side, but at least I know when this eventually rots and is ready to fall off I can make it again. I was, looking at the exhaust hangars, I wasn't sure if it was worth putting one off this small piece or not, the dpf is pretty heavy apparently, may just cut the hangar off the stock rear pipe and weld it onto my 90 degree bend, and see if I can reuse one of the hangars on the truck to give it a little support. Shouldn't need it I wouldn't think, but after seeing 2 hangars on the muffler and one on the rear tailpipe, it does make me wonder if it would be a good idea.

 

how is it you can create a whole new exhaust system for your vehicle but can not figure out what size the exhaust pipes are?
