I heard that it wasn't that CAT couldn't meet emissions, but rather that CAT chose not to deal with all the Emissions crap, and quit making engines for highway service. I'm not sure if this info is correct, can someone verify ?

haha i love that blowing smoke is associated with teenagers which it usually true ill even admit...im 17 and even I can figure out blowing smoke is just a waste of your time and money. sure looks cool. but a zero in your bank account doesnt. i think a 7000 pound truck blowing the doors off of a little sports car is cooler than a big cloud of wasted fuel.

Even off-highway vehicles have emissions standards nowadays, probably not as outrageous as the on road stuff, but you can bet its coming. The story I heard was the otr market share wasn't worth the headaches, they'd rather pay intertrashional to build they're medium duty trucks.

I don't believe Caterpillar has ever built medium duty trucks, just engines.

It would seem that most every one in this thread is! I joined this site because I love doing mod's to Diesels. Yea I like Dodges better than any thing else but I still enjoy seeing a diesel that has Mod's even if its a Ford. Nothing better in my opinion than taking a 3/4,1 ton and showing up punk kids there little trucks with flow masters on them. Its a cool thing.. so lets grow up ppl and use this site for what it was intended for!
