I have a 2011 Dodge 2500 diesel and just recently isntalled a AFE cold air box - I have heard a fluttering sound from under the hood on a couple of ocasions now when I have decelrated - almost like something was hitting the fan shroud but all is clear in that area - I have no loss of power and the turbo is still whining as normal - any ideas?

 

Mine did that a few times after I put an AFE intake on it as well. I did the deletes though and haven't heard it since.

The EGR and DPF and sounds like what you heard was turbo shutter/surge or "bark"

 

nope thAt is not the noise - one i am talking about is like a flapping sound - as if there was a tag hitting a shroud

 

Its only happening upon deceleration? or has it happened other times as well.

 

it bolts to the intake manifold on the driver side of the engine about 40 bux for the delete peice or you could buy a new intake horn and dodgeram08 if its what im thinkin it only happens when under throttle or a load mine done it like crazy when i was towingi will see if i can find my video we recorded my wife said she could feel it at her feet on the pass side
