That would be the grid heater in the intake all sooted up from a **** poor idea of recirculating exhaust gas into the motorthat is the reason any egr engine should be modded to remove the egr my 09 with 200000 km was almost that bad when I got it and I pulled all the egr garbage off I have seen big truck engines with egr's on them ruin a new engine in 60000 km where those engines would run a million before a rebuild non egr

what were the symptoms when it clogged? my 07.5 just shut down and lost power/ wont idle, egr is unplugged but not blocked off. im running a H&S XRT PRO and dpf deleted exhaust, truck started sputtering and shut down, trys to run for a few seconds when you first start it, then it dies and doesnt want to start back, lots of black smoke for the few seconds it does idle(very roughly i might add). flashing lightning bolt on the dash?
