Good day to all

I'm a long time reader first time ...poster I guess. I have looked at a hundred websites like this and always keep coming back here cause you guys have ALL the answers. I live in Canada and recently bought an 07 Dodge 2500 6.7 L Cummins. I did a lot of research on the internet before the purchase as this is my first Diesel and there is a tonne of things that stump me to put it mildly. One is the fuel. In Canada from what I understand, there are three types of diesel. The regular, low sulphur and ultra low sulphur. From what I read as of 2006 all fuel pumps are supposed to carry the ultra low stuff only but some are still marked low sulphur. If I fuel up with this low sulphur instead of ultra low like what the truck calls for what kind of damage can I expect. What excactly is the scoop on fuel and ultra low diesel engines in Canada? Can anyone help

Thank you

If I was to guess they just haven't changed the labels on the pump. But not being from Canada i do not know for sure. But there are lots of guys from Canada on this site that can give you way better insight than me.

They probably haven't changed out the sticker. But I would use what it really calls for. Can't say what kind of damage but I doubt there would be any.

canada aint covered by the same laws as we are here whit i dont think

to answer one of your questions, using low sulfer diesel instead of ultra low sulfar can cause premature injector failure from what i had been told. hope this helps

Sulfur is what lubes the fuel system. I don't see what running another 485 ppm sulfurated fuel is gonna hurt anything

Your welcome I would agree with diesel pap and whit. Your truck was deigned for ultra low sulfur diesel. Prolonged use of the low sulfur could but, not always cause damage. It depends on build date of your truck, how well you do or don't take care of it, and what your trucks use is. Some cummins can handle everything you through at it, and some will breakdown of you do one thing out of sync.
WELCOME!

while this is true it isn't completely true.

what makes ULSD not as "lubricating" as LSD is the process of removing the sulfur. it strips the lubricating properties from ULSD when they remove the excess sulfur. to me it makes about as much sense as a hardware solution to a software problem.
