Default 2nd Gen exhaust manifold on a 6.7?

First off, I know I'm probably gonna get a lot of static about this, but......I've seen a few CR motors with 2nd gen exhaust manifolds and hearing about a few guys puttin CR manifolds on 6.7s. I'm just wondering if it'd be possible to put a 2nd gen manifold on a 6.7 to get some of the "old Cummins" sound out of the newer trucks. Just personal preferance but I just can't stand the way the new 6.7s sound straight piped. Discuss...........

It isn't the manifold that makes the sound, it is mostly the turbo, and the cam that is in the 6.7. The Manifold isn't going to do anything but raise the turbo up from where it sits. Unless you meant to add a 2nd or 3rd gen turbo on the 6.7. I am not sure what the pedestal differences are for the 6.7 from previous generations.

The thing that makes the 6.7 sound wierd is the vgt turbo. the 2nd gen mainfold will just raise the turbo up then you gotta build a downpipe

Well, I certainly don't want to argues with people who probably have a lot more knowledge than me. However, I have seen a couple CR 5.9 trucks that did nothin but put a 2nd gen exhaust manifold on their truck and it totally took away that weird throaty sound 3rd gens have and made it sound like a VP or 12V truck. Guess I'll just have to wait and hope somebody with a lot more time and money than me gives it a shot so I can see how it turns out. Thanks for the input though guys.

The only way you can get your vgt turbo to work on a 2nd gen manifold is to get a pdi manifold with a t-4 flange. And you will still have alot of turbo noise because of the vanes in the turbo

i am pretty sure that the restrictive exhaust housing on the stock turbo changes the sound a bit too
