type of oil????
hey my buddy has that new dodge rig,(2008) what does dodge run for oil in the diffs? im a ford boy so its always been 80w90 gear oil for me but im gonna change the oil and i was wondering what they run in them synthetic maybe or something, anyone knows that would be awsome, i heard if you run the wrong stuff they give you hell about warranty thats why im asking.
Yep, everything is synthetic on the diffs and have been for a while. 75/90 is what's called for. The 110 or 140 if really pushing it. I thought Ford was requiring 75/140 now on the late models as they were losing rear ends on the 90...or have they fixed this issue??
It is a good idea to change it out between 5-10 actually. It gets the initial wear metals out. Then once you changed that, you're good for quite a while. With ours it's 50-100k depending on use(typically 50)
