Default Gauges or Monitor

I am thinking of a all in one monitor. I was thinking about gauges, but I have changes my mind. I am sick of the people that say you have gauges you must be fast. OK who makes the best one that is not a lot of money? thanks

Autometer makes gauges for pretty much any budget and they do look good! As for monitors the bd xmonitor is decent or get an edge juice with the attitude montitor

I was wondering the same thing. I would rather have the BullyDog GT instead of traditional guages but do not know if they will work with my Smarty.

I have an edge w/ attitude that sits on the #0 setting since i got my smarty... works good for gauges, but it doesnt have a rail pressure gauge on it... So I bought a pillar that fits the edge and 1 gauge, Will post pictures when I get the time

Manual gauges rule.

You get true readings, plus if the electronics ever fail/are stolen/you replace with something new/etc., there is a big chance you all of a sudden don't have gauges.

Pillar units with gauges shouldn't cost more the $400, or you can do your own thing and cut down on the cost by going gauges only and put them where you want with your own mounts.

How far off could digital pods really be...? I doubt it can be much. Plus with the monitor I get alerts and records, so that I dont have to stare at my gauges every time I get on the accelerator heavily.

By the way. Whichever way you go with it, I bought my stuff from dieselpap at Mighty Diesel, He has been a good help over the time I have been dealing with him. If you have any questions he will answer them for you, and if he doesnt know the answer... He will find out someone who does.

You can get a sweet 4 pack from Dieselpowerproducts.com for around $700
Its the pod that goes above the rear view mirror and includes:

Rail Pressure
Fuel Pressure
Boost
EGT

And these are Dipricol gauges

I also thought going electronic with the Edge, but I hear the rail pressure gauge is very important if your looking to turn up the wick. The only way I could see the electronic side being less accurate would be the sample rate of the sensor since it is electronic, but I can't seem to find those specs.

I wish to have neither and have a standalone managment system like my race car, Accel Gen VII, with a wire-less race pak display that taps into every sensor you could want, data-logs, samples up to 120 samples per second, danger limits, safety shut down ect...and tunning ability is limit less, but I have not seen such a thing for diesels yet...????? But I wouldn't see needing so much ability with a diesel, but then again I dont know...

either one is good both are going to give you the info but it sounds like you already made your mind up electronic has alerts to help you and not having to look at guages all the time

H&S is now selling their gauge setup with on the fly program changes up to 175 horse, also lets you pull the dpf and egr. I'm thinking this is the way I will go, but will wait until a few guys run them and get any kinks worked out.
