What is different from a FG filter to other filters? I've had oil analysis done no my race car using just about every filter out there, and the napa gold (made by WIX) was by far the best filter hands down for the $, and the flow testing that has been done on them shows relativly low restriction compared to other comparable filters....

Please educate me if there's something about a FG filter that makes it a better filter for a diesel then other options that are out there (hard factual information only please, I want to see #'s that support it is better not just word of mouth from a cummins rep)

I actually picked up some of the delo 15w40 today @ my local walmart... they only had 10 qts of rotella on the chelf, but they had an assload of the delo oil, so I figured what the hell, I'll give it a shot.

I've been changing my oil every 5K, book says every 7500... not sure if I want to let it go that long, but now that the break in should be done, I'm going to change it next at 16K, then just start doign it every 6000 miles.

Anyone think that's not often enough/too often? I am going to stick with the napa gold filters, unless someone has a good reason not to use them with hard factual info.

You are wasting your money changing a modern diesel at 5K. Go with 7500 as per the book with approved oil and you will be just fine. I change my 2002 every 10,000 km (7500 miles?) and use DELO 5W40 and 15W40. I use the synthetic DELO in my TDI every 16,000 km and I have not had to do an oil change in the Benz yet but will use an oil approved by them with their filters.

As far as the NAPA goes - if it is approved for that engine go nuts. Personally, nothing but fleetguard for me as they are cheaper to buy and are made by Cummins for Cummins blocks.

I dont see why using delo or rotella or mobile super 1300 would hurt anything they are oils developed for semis so they must be fine for a pickup.
I personally run synthetic rotella in my daily driver because it one of the easier synthetics to find in my area but i run delo in a older in a older 6.5 chevy and had no problems
I knoq a guy who used to work for cummins he said that napa aka wix filters r great filters he also said that mobile one filters were pretty good something about a different type of filtering media
