Unhappy

I have a 2008 6.7 6spd. With 14,000 miles. Im driving to Louisiana right now. Im doing about 70 to 75 MPH. I stopped at a truck stop to fill up. As I get back on the road to continue my journey, my truck started running very sluggish and seems to have lost power. I have no idea what it could be, if I slow down and then accelerate to my normal speed. The truck becomes very hesitant. I can't think of anything that I could have done to make this happen. One thing that has occurred was that the CEL has turned on twice and went away. I had an appointment with the dealership in Houston TX where I live. But since it went away I never went in. I spoke to the Advisor at the dealer they said not to worry about it to come in if it ever came back on. But at this point I don't have any lights or warnings on.

If anyone can show me some light in what is happening please help...

sounds like you might have gotten some bad fuel. i would change the fuel filter ASAP and buy a few extras to take along with you. next would be to get someone to pull codes off the computer. even if the CEL isn't on there should be some stored in the memory.

has the fuel filter ever been changed?

No I have never replaced the fuel filter.

- How often or when should I replace the fuel filer?
- Where would I find the fuel filter on this truck?
- Would the computer detect bad fuel?

At this moment I am driving. I have no where to stop. When driving at steady speed it seems to be running with no problems. But if I slow down and accelerate it sounds as if my exhaust brake is on.

I thank you for your fast response, and your help in diagnosing my problem.

Can you tell me if I could buy the fuel filter at any auto-part or will it have to be from the dealer.

How often to replace....every 15000 miles in normal conditions. No bad fuel etc...

Where to find....It is on driver side of the motor near firewall

Detect bad fuel....I have no idea. If it is bad fuel the truck will not run right but I do not know if the computer is detecting it or not.

Have you looked at your overhead display. Flip to system check and see what it says. If its at 100% your truck maybe in limp mode do to the dpf being clogged.

Sounds sort of like your turbo is sooting up. Very common problem. You will need to go to the dealer to have them clean in out. Once they clean it up you should unplug the EGR valve to keep this from being a constant problem.

I,m not sure if 6.7s are the same. Turn your Key on and off
3 times without starting, fourth time it will show codes.

dont know what the dealer was thinking when they told you that, anytime your CEL/MIL lamp comes on it will store a code. it could be something stupid, or could be very important. this could be the warning sign to something serious and leave you stranded. if you told your doctor you feel like you had a heart attack he probably wont tell you to not worry just come back when you feel this again.
