6.7 squeals like a mashed pig
6.7 , 2007. I love my dodge but it squeals horribly. Every month I replace something in front of the motor with new. I really don't mind because I know it needs updating. Belt, water pump, tensioner, alternator. Took it to a diesel mech., though he didn't have time to work on it, he said it was the fan bearing. So, I replaced that to still no avail. The problem around here, is there's not enough mechanics and I can't do without it for 2 weeks. It doesn't squeal while in park and idling, you can take off down the road and not hear a thing, but as soon as you give it a little fuel it squeals like a mashed pig. Doesn't seem to affect the motor at all, doesn't run hot, get good mileage considering I pull 14k every day. 5" exhaust and all deletes, smarty JR.
I would check the idler pulley, and belt.
You can buy them and replace yourself, not hard. Make a diagram of belt.
Best to have 2 people. One person holds idler with breaker bar, other takes off belt.
Replace idler and belt, less then a hour from start to finish.
