2009 6.7 cummins egr
I'm new to the diesel scene. Just wanting to ask a couple questions. My truck has had the dpf deleted and is straight pipe from turbo back. Will I improve my mileage by doing the egr delete? Do I have to do anything to the computer if I do the delete? I have read the instructions on one of the kits and it does not say anything about it but I don't want to do it and find out later. The instructions seem like it won't be to hard if you take your time. Should I do other mods with it or first? Thanks for any advice!!
Is there a programmer on it already? dpf requires ME file i beleive it is to suppress the dpf regen cycle otherwise it will have a code/limp mode etc. Doing the egr delete wouldn't hurt and i would personally.
It does not have a tuner. I bought it a couple months ago like it is. I was told you go into the computer and delete it. I would like to add a tuner eventually. I bought the truck to pull a camper in the future but it is also my daily driver. Thanks for the advice.
I went with EFI live tune. very happy with it.
This may be a dumb question but have you looked underneath to see if the dpf is gone? If it isnt i can understand that its saying dpf is full. If it isnt there im not to sure on why your getting that. I deleted my dpf and egr with a race me tuner. Its wonderful response/power/fuel economy went up 5+ mpg, just better all around.
i would say you have some kind of tune already possible efi for an 09? check your wiring harness also where it would connect to the dpf area to see if there maybe are emulators, just a long shot. i'd ask the previous owner to what he did that may clear it up real quick. just some idea's
