Default Exhaust adapter sizes

Hey fellas, Will a 3" ID fit pretty snug in a 3.5" OD pipe? I only ask because I have a 4" DPF/CAT delete that will be going into (for now) astock 3.5" exhaust. Idea is 4" ID to 3"ID adapter to enable the sleeve to go into the 3.5 " exhaust rather than around like with a 4"ID to 3.5" ID adapter with a clamp. Any help/ideas would be great.

I would think it would be a feasible fit, but not perfect. Probably a small enough gap to close off with a good weld, but Im not 100% sure
