Default Dad's Diesel

Hey guys, my dad has a 08 f-250 6.4 Diesel and he wants to know what are the best basic mods. CAI and tuner. He's mainly interested in getting better gas mileage. Ive read about the Econ tuner, are they any good? Thanks guys

take off the DPF is one of the biggest MPG gainers you can do to the 6.4's...he may not want to get into it that far...in that case alot of guys run and like the SCT tuners, or there is guy that can make custom tunes for the powerstrokes i dont know if he does them for the new ones...i cant think of his name. Some one will chime in if they know his name.

On the intake side of it, just pick one there are so many out there it is all preference to the owner on what they want

Yea he's pretty adiminant about his warranty so he wont likely do that. But just for s&g whats the mpg gain from the removal? oh and what are the mpg bumps from the tuners?

Will the hypertech econ tuner along with the cai help this out? How effective are the cai's?

cia's help alot on the new 6.4's there stock intake is quite restricting.
im not too familar with hypertech for the 6.4 but if they're anything like they were on the 7.3's dont expect too much.

plus if you delete the dpf/doc you will have to use a custom tuner with the capabilites to shut down the system/trick the pcm.

idk that hypertech can do that on there ecno tuner
