I was living/working in the NWT, and they are using hours as a warranty expiry condition. It's in the Warranty and Policy Manual now.

Ive heard of the coolant jacket going which would result in serious repairs or engine replacement.

This new procedure for calculating oil changes in the shop manual seem very stupid to me

the engine hour meter is now only an engine idle hour meter......

what is ford thinking....

customer a comes in with there engine out of there truck pull the hours well it only has 250 hours on it and the kms are just over 7000 so guess what time for a service.....

but in fords eyes now

250 engine idles hours is equivalent to 13250kms + the 7000 kms for 20 250 kms on this engines oil.....

not to mention whats going to happen 30-40-50 000 kms down the road how are you supposed to calculate your oil change intervals

it should not be rocket science............

I know of four:

1. 2008 F350 4x4....2,736 miles...broke a rod. No final resolution as to why. All stock, replaced under warranty. Truck owned by Alyeska Pipeline Services.

2. 2008 F550 2wd...set up as a mechanic's truck, 21,000gvw...892 miles. All stock, Hydrauliced due to faulty fuel injectors....engine replaced under warranty. Truck owned by Grays Harbor Public Utilities.

3. 2009 F350 4x4...654 miles...All stock, Hydrauliced due to faulty fuel injectors....engine replaced under warranty. Truck owned by Portland General Electric.

4. 2009 F250 4x4...1,910 miles...has DPF delete and a programmer (brand unknown)...blown head gasket and broken rod...dealership replaced the engine under warranty. Truck owned by a local logger to remain nameless to protect his mojo.

#2 and #4 were performed at a dealership in Aberdeen, Wa......#3 was performed at a dealership in Portland, Or ........#1 was performed at a dealership in Anchorage, Ak.

That's all I've got so far....
